摘要

Heavy steel plates with thickness of over 150 mmhave usually been manufactured by using materials obtainedthrough ingot casting process ,in consideration of the internalproperties .The possibility of applying a forging process beforeplate rolling was investigated to secure both homogeneous andsound internal properties by using continuous castingslabs ,instead of ingot casting considered ,a forging method withreduction in width-wise direction before reduction in thickness-wise direction of slabs was found to be very effective .As aresult of the application ofthis process for TS: 400 Mpa classsteel ,it is concluded that excellent internal properties can beobtained in the manufacture of heavy steel plates with thicknessof up to240 mm (reduction ratio:1.3).
