Introduction:Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a well known cause of pulmonary infections in children and adults. These infections may result also in extrapulmonary diseases as erythema multiforme and severe mucositis (Alter SJ, Stringer B. Clinical Pediatrics 1990; 29: 602-604).Patient presentation:We saw a previously healthy 12-year-old boy with a history of fever up to 39,5 degC, sore throat, cough and being unwell since 4 days. He received amoxicilline therapy because of suspected streptococcal infection without signs of recovery. He felt a lot worse. 1 day before admission bilateral conjunctivitis was observed and he noticed rapidly developing peeling lips with painful lesions on his palate. Because of disease progression and insufficient food intake he presented in the emergency department. He was admitted for parenter-al rehydration, analgetic therapy and further workup.
