摘要

Using 2 different molecular techniques, it was shown that there was a genetically based difference in the probability that individual Apis mellifera, will scout independently for food. The age of a bee did not influence its probability of becoming ascout or a recruit. Furthermore, scout bees did not search opportunistically for either pollen or nectar but, rather, individuals had preferences that were genetically based.
