There is general evidence that the incidence of the adenocar-cinoma of the endocervix (EA) has been rising, particularly in the lower age groups. The increase is multinational, covering the USA, northern Europe and other Western countries. There has been both an absolute and relative increase of EA compared with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), over the past 2 decades: EA makes up between 15 and 25% of invasive carcinoma [19]. The trends are generally restricted to younger women under 25.
