The study of cytological specimens as a complementary tool to frozen sections in the intraoperative consultation for ovarian lesions improves the performance of intraoperative diagnosis. Although cytology imprints and smears have been used by pathologists for many years as an adjunct to frozen sections in various organs, this has not been the case for the ovary. The increasing demand for intraoperative procedures in the diagnosis of ovarian tumors makes us aware of the importance of including diagnosis of cytological specimens in the study of frozen sections [10,15,22, 26].
