A key part of an organization's strength lies in its ability to combine the right social networking tools and e-learning technologies. Here, Katrina Delargy and Fiona Leteney explain how confidence, capability and competency are key enablers of engaged and effective KM. When the 2003 "Accounting for People" report was introduced to the UK government, Denise Kingsmill, chair of the Accounting for People Task Force on Human Capital Management, said, "Directors need to transform the airy cliche about people being their greatest asset into a guiding principle of business strategy." This statement demonstrates that management of and accounting for intangibles is now a major challenge.
