Large collections from the from the Bauland Member (Upper Germanic Muschelkalk, Late Anisian) of the Crailsheim region in northern Wurttemberg of stratigraphically precisely dated Triassic ammonoids of the genus Ceratites are described. The taxonomy of the species Ceratites angustus, C. raricostatus, C. robustus and C. transgressor is revised in a chronospecific and phylogenetic, rather than purely morphospecific, framework of classification. These chronospecies show a clear but not very prominent form of dimorphism, presumed to be sexual, analogous to that widely recognized in many other Jurassic and Cretaceous ammonites.
