摘要

A new casting process named as "Sheet Metal Mould Casting" process has been proposed in recent past [1-3]. In this process, loose unbounded sand is used as the mould material that surrounds a sheet metal mould having shape and dimensions similar to that of the casting to be produced. The process is similar to Lost Foam Casting (LFC) process, where expanded polystyrene pattern is surrounded by loose unbounded sand. The mould is filled with liquid metal and on solidification and cooling, the casting is taken out from the mould.
