The meeting was held during the NCSLI Conference on July 21, 2004. Representatives from Delta, United, Northwest, Thai, and Frontier Airlines, the NIST, Air Force MetCal, Boeing, and Midcoast Aviation attended. Barbara Belzer of the NIST / NVLAP explained some of her objectives when writing the gap analysis between FAR 145-9:and ISO 17025. She said 17025 could be useful as an evaluation tool when purchasing calibration services. She asked for comments and suggestions about her gap analysis. There was a concern from the committee that it may be misinterpreted by FAA auditors as mandatory compliance tool. Barbara noted our concerns, and assured us that the committee will have opportunities to review the gap analysis draft before it is published.
