The protection of trade secrets has become a key component of new state laws and proposals for oil and natural gas field service firms to disclose the chemicals that they use to hydraulically fracture natural gas wells.Confidentiality of highly competitive fracturing formulas has been offered as a provision in disclosure policies enacted over the past year in Wyoming, Texas and Arkansas and could be considered in other states now debating similar measures, like Colorado (NGW Jun.27'11).
