A 30-year-old man was presented to the surgical department of our hospital in February 2007 when recurred intermittent upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage stopped via primary management for 3 weeks. The initial physical examination and past medical history were unremarkable with the exception of hypemia and hypersplenotrophy. Upon admission, abdominal CT scan with contrast revealed CTPV (Fig. 1a) and hypersplenotrophy. Endoscopy demonstrated esophageal varices and portal hypertensive gastropathy (Fig. 1b).
