The healthcaresystem is obsessed with large bodied patients.It is determined to eradicate fatness, while also sending strongmessages to large bodied patients that“you are not welcome here”.Despite nearly 1.9 billion people areliving in large bodies,1 negative attitudes about large body weight and size remains one ofthe last socially acceptable prejudices. Healthcare providersoften havestrong negative opinions about and intentionally discriminate against large bodied patients.
