摘要

Ethical, legal and social questions raised by the 'new genetics' are now amply represented in a diverse range of postgraduate research. Many of these postgraduate disciplines were recently brought together via the staging of the fourth Postgraduate Forum on Genetics and Society (PFGS). The PFGS is a network of graduate students broadly based in the UK and Europe, but which is now becoming established further afield. Initiated in 1998, the PFGS provides an opportunity for postgraduate students in disciplines including philosophy, sociology, history, law, cultural studies and anthropology to present their work in an informal and supportive environment. This is a unique forum, as students from different disciplines (but who are interested in similar issues) can establish contacts and exchange ideas.
