The only thing I know for sure about hanging baskets is that, at 5ft tall, I'm too short to water them! But luckily that works in my favour because, once I've planted them up with my favourite plants, I can hand over all responsibility to my 6ft-tallhusband. Thus the blame for any subsequent casualties due to dehydration lie squarely on his broad shoulders. Hanging baskets are hard to keep alive in summer, when a daily soak is essential for survival. But autumn hanging baskets are easy-care, plus they add a welcoming splash of colour when the rest of your garden's bedding down for winter.
