In Europe, the white-flowered form of Geranium maderensc is marketed as one of the rarest of plants, with high prices asked for just a few seeds. Funny thing is, most of that seed comes from New Zealand. Pukekohe nurseryman Terry Hatch of Joy Plants sends 2.5kg of seed to the famous German perennial seed company Jelittos every year. Terry was the first to offer plants of this dramatic geranium for sale. He sells it as Geranium maderense 'Alba' - which is logical given the flower colour - but in Europe and England it's often called 'Guernsey White'or simply'White'.
