In order to assist ZESPRl with the sourcing of fruit for Korea supply, a survey of the scale insect species found on kiwifruit leaves and fruit was conducted throughout New Zealand by HortResearch in 2007. Two of the three scale insect species found on kiwifruit vines, greedy scale and oleander scale, are actionable quarantine pests in Korea for which there is a zero tolerance. The third species, latania scale, does not occur on the Korean pest list so technically lines with only this species present can be issued a phytosanitary certificate by NZ MAP and exported to Korea.
