Tornados are not common in Korea, however in the past the Pyoseon area has been hit by several small tornados, older residents can recall at least three separate occasions.Jeju residents'homes and sheds are typically constructed from concrete, so provide safe shelter during such events. Exposed shelter lines and orchard housing on the other hand is relatively exposed and even a small tornado can cause significant damage.
