Nursing Forum grasps the issues and dilemmas facing nurses in all areas of practice and their interactions with other healthcare providers and the public (http://www.wiley.com/bw/submit.asp?ref=0029-6473). Our mission is: "To be the leading voice for issues, trends, and innovations that advance nursing as a profession." Most general manuscripts would be classified as trends and innovations. What we need to address are the issues in the profession.Many authors have great ideas and have conducted impressive research. They meticulously (or at least one hopes so) create manuscripts related to particular journals and then wait for feedback from reviewers. Some of those manuscripts will not be accepted and a common cause is the submission does not really fit within the mission of the publication. Authors always have a choice of refocusing their work to the mission of the publication to which the manuscript was submitted (if there is a way to make the manuscript fit) or retaining the original focus and submitting it to a journal more closely aligned to the focus of the manuscript. What often does not appear in print are the professional issues surrounding a particular topic. Let me explain through a hypothetical example.
