摘要

Ecology is derived from the Greek word oikos meaning "home," and refers to the study of living organisms in their places of dwelling (Wegner, 2005). Human ecology was first introduced in 1925 in order to study human beings and their interactions with their environments (Park, Burgess, & McKenzie, 1925). Human ecology, as applied in psychology, sociology, economics, and public health, focuses on observing and understanding people's beliefs, perceptions, and behaviors, the goal being to influence their behaviors in terms of their transactions with their physical, socioeconomic, and cultural environments (Green, Richard, & Potvin, 1996; Richard & Gauvin, 2007; Sallis & Owen, 2002).
