Battered but unbowed might be the best way to describe Angela and Rob Duncan's gracious old Grcytovvn homestead, which for many years stood unloved and abandoned on Wairarapa farmland. Hay bales were stored beneath the soaring studs and cows (and theodd bull) wandered through at their leisure. The locals could have been forgiven for thinking one in their right minds would want it for anything other than firewood. Luckily, there was at least one far-sighted local prepared to give this derelict grandedame the architectural kiss of life. Replied, rewired, revived and restored, in 2000 it was moved on to its new section to face the new millennium. Two years later, Angela and Rob .saw il and were smitten. Built in 1865, this dignified survivor was oneof a handful of original grand family homes in the Greytown area.
