Five retired-breeder female Hartley guinea pigs from a breeding colony were submitted to the University of Missouri Research Animal Diagnostic and Investigative Laboratory for health evaluation. There was no history of clinical disease in these guineapigs or others in the breeding colony. The animals were found upon physical examination to be active, alert, and in good body condition. The guinea pigs were euthanized with carbon dioxide, blood samples were collected by cardiocentesis, and necropsy was performed.
