摘要

In aeroengine design, an extensive use of titanium alloys is essential for obtaining the highest level of mechanical characteristics with the lowest weight. This major role played by titanium in turbojet production needs a careful set of precautions along melting and testing to minimize the risk of heavy inclusion entrapment detrimental to part life duration. The complex microstructure of titanium alloys is taken under control through the modelling of the forging process and a precise prediction of shapes and microstructures. The high reactivity of titanium is a great concern in the use of turbojet engines which needs stringent rules of design and careful choices of materials.
