"Product life-cycle management for the masses!" has been a rallying cry among PLM vendors for some time now. But for many manufacturers, it remains little more than a cry for help. Their cries persist for making all that data trapped inside CAD and product data management systems freely available to those outside of engineering and manufacturing - i.e., the sales force, the marketing group, or the customer service team.
