Lawn and landscape professionals love to talk about the weather and share their predictions for the coming year. Some base their prognostications on seasonal records; others on insect outbreaks. Many times, predictions are simply guesses (right up there with your favorite local meteorologist) and fun tailgate discussions in between jobs. Currently, weather predictions are all over the map with the Farmer's Almanac and Old Farmer's Almanac predicting somewhat similar forecasts. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) indicates that the Pacific Ocean is currently set up for either an El Nino or La Nina effect this winter. A lingering La Nina situation is still in place in the Pacific, and some predict a similar winter to last year. Others say that an El Nino episode is set to take place this winter.
