Earlier this year a leaked draft directive emerged from the EU that, if it went into force, could wipe out a large section of Europe's sports nutrition business and hit suppliers of amino-acids (see New Nutrition Business April 2004). In response, theindustry launched an "eleventh-hour" effort to stop a directive that it said was based on inadequate science - but despite its best efforts it remains uncertain of stemming the tide.
