摘要

Growing citrus fruits indoors in Minnesota is easy—on paper. I had a dwarf 'Meyer' lemon tree for several years that flourished as a house plant. It grew to 3 feet, spending its summers outside on my patio and camping out on my sunny dining room buffet in the winter. It gave me four to five lemons every year, though the lemons never ripened to a full sunshine yellow, as one would hope, likely because I did not have quite enough indoor light to offer it. I would slice and squeeze and cook a little with the hard lemons in the kitchen, though. The plant itself was handsome and the flowers were lovely and sweetly fragrant. It was a kick to watch the fruits develop, even if they looked more like small limes or, sometimes, really big olives. The show alone was worth the effort.
