The commission would shrink from three elected commissioners to one. Some Texas legislators have complained that railroad commissioners use the post as a stepping stone for higher office and often raise campaign money from the companies they regulate. Some Sunset Commission members, though, were wary of cutting the agency down to one commissioner -- saying that would give one person too much power. The recommendation will be sent to the Texas House and Senate to be drafted into legislation.
