With an annual turnover of about RMB 5 billion (USD588 million), China's international courier industry handles about 33 million international express parcels a year, with such volume increasing from year to year. This is supported by the financial report of the second quarter of 2003 published by UPS. The statistics showed that its business in Chinese market increased by 45% over that in the same period of 2002, producing an average growth rate of about 15% in the whole of Asia. According to Merge Global Inc and the US-China Business Council, China has become the driving force for the future growth of Asia express cargo movements (See Figure 1 & 2)
