摘要

Some students who study microbiology online do better than those who take traditional courses, but this experience varies. In switching from conventional lectures to an all-online or mixed format for teaching microbiology, the author finds only slight differences in success rates among students in those different groups. Students studying microbiology online appreciate being able to review lectures whenever and wherever they choose. Although the workload for online or traditional lecturing is about equal, reviewing student online discussion threads provides teachers a new source of feedback.
