On 9 May 2009 the British Voice Association organised a study day, "Hearing and Seeing Voice" concerned with the contribution of electro-laryngo-graphy (ELG) to the study of Voice. It was held, appropriately, at University College London where the original work on the Laryngograph ~R was carried out by Adrian Fourcin. His earlier work on neuro-temporal pitch processing led to the development of the laryngograph as a means of determining vocal fold periodicity with great accuracy, and the BVA day was devoted to presentations from colleagues and students who have used ELG to investigate the speaking and singing voice.
