On-farm assessment of fertility levels on yield and economics of maize (Zea mays L.).

摘要

An on-farm field experiment was conducted at the village Bhanra and Badadeuli in Karanjia block of Mayurbhanj district in the north central plateau zone of Orissa during kharif season (rainy season) of 2006 to assess the effect of fertility levels viz. farmer's practice and different doses of N, P2O5, K2O on yield and economics of maize (Zea mays L). Application of 120:60:60 kg N:P2O6:K2O/ha resulted in maximum grain yield of 5.28 t/ha and highest net profit of Rs 18,470/ha. This was followed by application of 80:40:40 kg N:P2O6:K2O/ha, which resulted in 4.60 t/ha grain yield and Rs 15,030/ha net profit. Application of 120:60:60 kg N:P2O5:K2O/ha resulted in more number of cobs (58.75 and 62.25 thousand/ha) and heavier grains (260.5 and 269.7 g/thousand).
