The experiment was conducted at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, during 1993-94 and 94-95 on sandy loam soil neutral in reaction with 0.38 percent organic carbon, 268, 17.0 & 330 kg available N, P and k respectively to assess the impact of moisture regimes and nitrogen levels on growth and productivity of two cultivars of oat. Significantly higher green fodder, dry matter and crude protein yields were obtained with irrigation at IW/CPE ratio of 1.10 and nitrogen level of 150kg/ha. Variety JHO-822outyietded JHO-851 by 12.10 and 20.16 percent in terms of green fodder and dry matter but with respect to crude protein yield it remained at par with JHO-851 on the basis of pooled data.
