The GSM-R system of digital mobile radio telecommunications for railways has been installed on the railways in Germany and nearly all European countries neighbouring on it. The "international public roaming" function makes it possible also for GSM-R subscribers from abroad to make use of this service in other visited GSM-R networks away from their home one and yet to use the tatter's telecommunication functions with the same mobile end device and SIM card.
