摘要

The EUROLIGHT is an eight-wheeled diesel-electric locomotive developed by Vossloh Rail Vehicles for interoperable rail traffic. With its low axle load of less than 20 tonnes, it can be deployed flexibly on both main lines and secondary ones. By contrast to main railway lines, secondary ones are often not electrified and only permit lower axle loads up to a maximum of 20 tonnes. The new locomotive from Spain offer greater deployment flexibility than that, since it is able to operate on a larger number of line categories (including, for instance, those with class-C and class-D tracks). At the same time, it has sufficient driving power to be able to keep pace with passenger trains on main lines.
