Essentially read by all researchers involved in chemical engineering science, Recent Innovations in Chemical Engineering is now commencing its 8th year. In this issue, Zhu et al. summarized the recent progress in the preparations and applications of highly porous silica with sodium silicate as the silicon precursor. Jaber et al. made an interesting bibliometric analysis based on database Scopus on Arab countries research activities in engineering over thirty-five years. For controlling nitrogen oxide emission from the cement industry, especially in China, Zhou et al. gave their opinions on the feasibility and the advantages of selective non-catalytic reduction denitri-fication technology. Boyadjiev et al. presented a new patent co-current apparatus for gas purification from low SO2 concentration, which was more effective than the counter-current gas absorbers. Gupta et al. showed how to improve the strength of polymeric concrete composite along with sea sand for development of hovercraft landing base/platform at seashore. Lin et al. reported the solid particles circulation based on a new feedback valve of internal circulating fluidized bed.
