摘要

This paper reports previously published data on the fertility and prolificacy of different breeds of dogs following natural mating or artificial insemination. It is reported that, in some subfertile breeds, fertility can be improved by 20-25% by thecorrect identification of oestrus. Artificial insemination with fresh semen gave results which were slightly lower than those obtained by natural mating. Frozen semen gave poorer results than fresh semen and was only used for certain special cases.
