Reaping the longevity dividend in time: biogerontology heavyweights advocate seeking late-onset interventions against aging.
It is not seriously disputed that public policy in all democracies overwhelmingly follows, rather than leads, public opinion. While the exceptions to this rule-the politicians who spearhead a meaningful shift in public opinion by the sheer force of their logic (and charisma)-tend to be the ones who are remembered the longest, the fact remains that that is a high-risk strategy, and the far surer route to political career success is to keep one's ear firmly to the tabloid ground. In respect of the combating of aging, this presents a particularly thorny dilemma.
