摘要

Structural components in the car industry are oftenassembled by resistance welding. Submitted in service tomultiaxial loading, those components have to meet fatigueresistance requirements (amongst others). The aim of the proposedmodel is to predict the lifetime of spot welded structuralcomponents. It also allows to optimize the position and number ofspot welds and simplifies the precise choice of an adapted materialgrade. The fatigue crack initiation resistance of a spot weld issupposed to be represented by a combination of normal force andtotal shear force. The model has been validated with experimentalresults obtained on structure-type specimens.
