Throughout the many years I've been a faceter, I've seen a lot of different people's inventions to solve what they perceive to be issues with their faceting machines. One of the most common kinds of inventions I've observed deal with splash guards for the Facetron~(TM) faceting machines by Jarvi Tool Co. Owner Jeff Jarvi feels everyone has a different idea of what works best for them and therefore provides the machine with a standard splash bowl, which allows the owner to decide whether they want to modify the splash bowl in order to cut and polish the girdle or just hold it down out of the way while doing so. I've always cut a window approximately 2(1/2) inches wide and 1(1/2) inches deep into the splash bowl so that I could set the dop arm at 90 degrees and let the dop and stone reach the laps without having to squash the splash bowl down and hold it.
