IBIZA, SPAIN - IT ALL STARTED when Ford CEO, Alan Mulally, was heard on a Detroit radio station saying that the European Ka could find its way across the Atlantic and into Ford's U.S. showrooms. "That's the first we heard about it," said a senior Ford of Europe engineer on the Ka's launch, "but we'd have to do quite a bit of work for front and rear crash legislation and then there's the Fiat link to consider as well, but it wouldn't be impossible."
