LITTLE ROCK - Fertilizer prices have increased about 25 and 30 percent compared to last year, and farmers are feeling the pinch. Leo Espinoza, soils specialist with the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, said the price has been on the increase for a few years. Five years ago, for instance, urea, a source of nitrogen fertilizer, sold for 190 dollar to 200 dollar a ton. Today, it may sell for as much as 300 dollar a ton.
