A low-cost and high-throughput spray drying method was developed to produce mesoporous carbon microspheres with controllable structure and nitrogen doping. The obtained microspheres have spherical morphology, controllable nitrogen doping (0-7 wt%), high specific surface areas (900-1200 m(2) g(-1)), large pore volumes (1-3 cm(3) g(-1)), and large mesopores.
