Rubber market moved within a narrow range between Rs.97 and 99 a kg for RSS 4 in July 2009. Despite low production of NR during the month, as active monsoon disrupted rubber tapping, the rubber market did not make any wide variation in price or violent swings, mainly because imports arrived in time in sufficient quantum to keep the price under check. NR import during the four-month period from April to August amounted to 85,000 tonnes. This covered more than 85 % of the 100,000 tonnes of NR import planned by the rubber manufacturing industry for the whole of 2009-10.
