The technical characteristics of the spindle assembly (SA) and also the stiffness of the centers of the turning machine or the cylindrical grinding machine have a significant influence on the static and dynamic components of the machining error. The overall error of the diametral dimension of the workpiece - by analogy with the calculation of the dimensional chains by the incomplete interchangeability method - can be expressed by the relation [1] △ =( (△{sub}z){sup}2+(ε{sub}y){sup}2+(△{sub}H){sup}2+3(△{sub}t){sup}2+3(△{sub}T){sup}2 ){sup}(1/2)+ ∑△{sub}φ < δ, (1) where △{sub}z is the error of the diametral dimension (non-circularity) of the part in the given cross section along the axis Z that arises because of the elastic deformations of the components of the technological system (TS) under the influence of the variable cutting forces; ε{sub}y is workpiece mounting error; △{sub}H is the machine adjustment error; △{sub}t is the error that is caused by the tool wear; △{sub}T is the error that is caused by the thermal deformations of the TS; ∑△{sub}φ is the overall shape error that is caused by the geometric errors of the machine elements (primarily the spindle supports), by the workpiece deformations under the influence of the workholding forces and the non-uniform elastic deformations of the TS under the action of the cutting forces; and 5 is the tolerance on the final diametral dimension of the part.
