摘要

The ability to transfer data, information, and functional intelligence from field to office and back again drives electric distribution and transmission system automation. But given the expense involved, choosing the right communications backbone to meet an electric co-op's needs now and into the future can pose a real dilemma. In April 2006, Great River Energy started rolling out an Internet Protocol (IP)-based data scheme that offered the Maple Grove, Mina-based generation and transmission co-op (G&T) security, reliability, and speed at a reasonable price.
