摘要

The reaction of chlorine with trans*- [PtpnPy_2Cl*2]Cl_2 (I) results in a partial chlorination of the amino groups of the coordinated propylenediamine, the chelate ring being intact. The dechlorination of the resulting product yields the initial tetramine isolated as [PtpnPy_2Cl_2*](ClO_4)_2 centre dot H_2O (II) and small amounts of [PtPy_2Cl_4] and, tentatively, [PtPyNH_3Cl_4]. Crystals of II were studied by X-ray crystallography (1134 reflections; R_(hkl) = 0.041, GOOF = 14.62). The crystals are orthorhombic: space group Pbcn, a = 37.29(2) A, b = 12.103(6) A, c = 15.141(7) A, V = 6834(6) A3, z = 12. In the {Pt~(IV)pnPy_2Cl_2}~(2-) complex, the platinum atom is bonded to two chlorine atoms, two pyridine nitrogen atoms, and two nitrogen atoms of propylenediamine forming a five-membered chelate ring.
