The mixed-ligand (thiourea)ethylenediaminetetraacetatobismuthates(III) of the (CH_7N_4)[Bi(Edta)(Tu)_2] centre dot 2.5H_2O (I) and (CH_7N_4)[Bi(Edta)(Tu)(H_2O)] centre dot 2H_2O (II) compositions have been synthesized for the first time; their crystal structures are determined. The structures are built of the (CH_7N_4)~+ cations, complex anions [Bi(Edta)(Tu)_2]~- and [Bi(Edta)(Tu)(H_2O)]~-, respectively, and crystal water molecules. Compound II is the first example of a mixed-ligand bismuth(III) chelate in which the coordination sphere of the central atom contains two different neutral ligands (a thiourea molecule and a water molecule) along with the EDTA~(4-) ligand.
