Pilot screening tests were performed with re-pulped copy paper and PSA stickies under different conditions with 0.15 mm wedge wire slots to optimise the removal of macro-stickies at the first high-consistency slot-screening step in deinking lines.A limited fragmentation of the stickies was observed during the tests.Rotor velocity showed low influence except on the screening capacity(maximum slot velocity) at high consistency.As previously observed at low consistency,increasing slot velocity(from 1 to 2 m/s) reduced the efficiency and the best results were obtained with low contours(0.6 mm) compared to high contours(1.2 mm).The screening efficiency was maintained when the consistency was increased up to 3.7%,except for the results obtained at the screening capacity limits.Further investigations are in progress to evaluate the influence of fibre consistency and profile height at secondary stages of DIP screening systems,because of the concentration of long and stiff fibres in rejects.
