MOSCOW. (Interfax) - Alrosa could start selling diamonds for rubles, a source at Russia's Yakutia-based diamond monopoly told Interfax on June 29. All rough diamond sales are currently carried out in U.S. dollars or are pegged to the dollar's exchange rate. "But, in connection with the company' s plans to s et a trading floor up in Moscow and switch to long-term contracts, it would be logical to conduct transactions in the national currency," the source said.
