Ten Golden Rules For Reducing Verbosity In Legal & Professional Writing - Part One What's the purpose of writing? Why do we write? What's the purpose of writing? If we choose to write, we normally intend that what we have written should be read. It is said that writing is an instrument for conveying ideas from one mind to another; the writer's job is to make his reader appreltend his meaning readily and precisely. The purpose of language is communication. We expect people to read and undeestand what we are trying to tell them through our writing. This purpose can be achieved only if we write in the language the reader of our writing can understand the message clearly and without difficulty.

While quite a number of English-Japanese dictionaries of business and legal terms have been publishedin Japan, there seem to be very few Japanese-English dictionaries on the market which give clear explanations of thesubtle differences in meaning between the various English equivalents of terms in such specialized fields.
